Sara Gadimova

Sara Gadimova was born on 31st of May in 1922 in Baku and died on 12th of May in 2005 in Baku. Khanende had a great lyric-coloratura-soprano and was awarded to the rank of the Peoples artist of Azerbaijan in 1963.

In her grow up as a khanende, singer Huseyngulu Sarabski, Seyid Shushinski Khan Shushinski played a big role. She was the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic society since 1941.

She also was the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater in 1957-1962 years and played “Leyli” and “Asli” in “Leyli and Majnun” and “Asli and Kerem” by Uzeyir Hajibeyov.

All Azerbaijan mugams, Azerbaijan’s folk and composer songs, songs by the Eastern peoples were included to Sara Gadimova’s repertoire. A lot of Sara Gadimova’s records are saved in the Azerbaijan Radio and Television Foundation. Khanende was on tour to a lot of foreign countries of the world such as Iran, Iraq, Germany, Hungary, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Tunis and etc.
