Gulyaz Mammadova

Gulyaz Mammadova Zakir gyzy was born in 1970. She studied at the N1 secondary school of Boyuk Dahna village in 1977-1987. In 1988, she entered the musical technical college named after Asaf Zeynalli and in 1992 she graduated from it.

Since 1992 and up to now she is the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Opera and Ballet Theater. She acted as Leyli in Uzeyir Hajibeyov’s Leyli and Majnun, Shahsenem in Ashiq Garib by Z.Hajibeyov, Gulbahar in Sh.Akhundov’s Gelin Gayasi, a singer in Vagif and Telli in Arshin mal alan.

Since 1992, she has been the soloist of the Azerbaijan State Song Theater of Rashid Behbudov and since 1977, she has been teaching mugham at maestro Narmin Aliyeva’s classes of the Musical College. In 1998, President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev awarded Gulyaz Mammadova with the title of the honored artist. She also studied at the Azerbaijan University of Art.

In 2000, she took a trip to Expo-2000 in Hannover city of Germany, in the same year, she delievered concerts in Istanbul and Ankara as part of the Boghazichi festival in Turkey, in 2001-2002, she took part in the concert program of the group that advocated the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, in 2002, she took part in the concert program, organized on the first anniversary of Azerbaijan’s membership in the Council of Europe in France’s Strasbourg, in 2-2002, she delivered concert in Austria’s Vienna, Moscow, Ukraine’s Kiev, in 2002-2003, she attended the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in Moscow, in 2002 in Ukraine, in 2002 in the festival of the CIS countries. She is currently teaching mugham at Asaf Zeynalli’s school.
