Gabala festival to add to history as an important page - first lady

Mugam RadioThe Fourth International Music Festival kicks off in Gabala today.

The welcoming speech of president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador Mehriban Aliyeva is published in the booklets presented to the event participants.

The welcoming speech says: “Dear festival participants. As a country that preserved traditions and tolerance since ancient and housed numerous peoples and religions that coexist peacefully for centuries , as well as contributed to the propaganda and development between cultures and civilizations, Azerbaijan recently became famous as a place hosting numerous musical and art festivals, conferences and exhibitions. It is encouraging that events which enrich different traditions have become common over the past years.

Just few months ago, our country hosted the most popular contest of Europe Eurovision 2012 and this time music brought together all people regardless of their nationality, religion or political views. By holding the first Gabala International Music Festival in one of the picturesque places in 2009, Azerbaijan has created a new tradition in the history of the national musical culture.

The festival that serves the expansion of international cultural ties, popularization of our rich music culture in the world, as well as the strengthening of mutual understanding and friendship between peoples increases its international influence year by year while turning into a wonderful tradition. I do believe that like previous years this year the festival attended by world-famous musical figures will also turn into an unforgettable music festival and will add to history as an important page in our musical culture.

The first event to be held as part of the Gabala festival is devoted to the 70th jubilee of world famous musician, USSR popular artist Muslim Magomayev. The festival is held with the support and on the initiative of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. (News.az)
